Fifteenth Annual
Tugboat Race & Competition
Sponsored by the
Working Harbor Committee, the Annual
Tugboat Race & Competition is held
on the Hudson River from 72nd Street south to Pier 84 at 42nd Street. Entrants
range from
modern 7,000 horsepower workhorses to vintage boats. It is a great day for both
participants
and spectators alike. Other activities included a rope toss and shoving matches.
Many tugboat
operators make it a family day as the following photos will demonstrate.
Thanks go out to Captain John Doswell and Bernie Ente of the Working Harbor
Committee.
